Red Beach School
Farewell Drive by at 12 today
17 Dec 2021
End of Year Send Off, Drive by TODAY!!!!!
TODAY the school closes at 12.00 for the summer holiday.
The staff would like to say goodbye to you, the school community and also give you the chance to say goodbye to us and especially some of our long-standing staff that are leaving us.
We have decided we will be at the front of the school on Albert Hall Drive and along the fence on Red Beach Road between 11.30am and 12:00pm if you would like to do a drive past and give us a beep and a wave. We would love to see you.
Make sure you have the tinsel and Santa hats on as well.
Reports on HERO today.
15 Dec 2021
This evening we will be adding this terms reports to Hero that can be accessed on a computer (this way you can print them off) or phone.
Reports will look different this Term as Covid 2021 has seen Red Beach School in Level 4 and Level 3 Lockdown since August 18, week 4 Term 3. This was three days after the mid-year reports had gone out during student-led conferences. Communicating learning to home has continued through learning posts.
However, this year, we are unable to implement the usual process for end-of-year reporting. It is the format that will look different as there is not enough evidence to inform an Overall Teacher Judgement.
Although distance learning occurred, there were inconsistent levels of engagement due to many different valid reasons. We tracked and responded to engagement very carefully and regularly. From our findings and discussions teachers it was evident that we could not produce a valid report that would contain information about how the student has progressed in their learning, effort, and key competencies, or how their achievements measure in comparison to New Zealand expected levels and next learning steps.
As a result, each teacher will write instead a brief statement that encapsulates the learning that occurred during distance learning and perhaps a highlight from earlier in the year to be celebrated.
Goals will still show however the majority of these may not have changed but will be a great indicator for next year’s teacher.
On the report will also be the class your child/ren will be moving into in 2022. This has been a huge process where all of the teachers have had an opportunity to look over these placements to make sure we have the students in the best possible class to succeed.
