Junior School Y 0/1
Year One have be combining their learning around Keeping Ourselves Safe with some learning in Maths around shapes. In the lesson - I am unique, He taonga ahau, they spoke about the importance of knowing their address and a phone number, so that they can communicate this to someone in an emergency or if they were to get lost. Some classes created houses using and naming shapes, as well as writing their house number on a letter box. They also learned a song - Walking Tall, that we sang at Year 1 Singing Assembly. The students drew themselves walking tall, proud of themselves and their strengths.

Year 2/3
Year 2 and 3 went on a trip to Red Beach Surf Club for our Education outside the classroom. We learnt about beach safety including- ‘Rory The Rip’ and found out that Calm Patches, Discoloured Water, Criss Cross Waves, and Debri were all signs of Rory! Swimming between the flags, and how to get help and who to call were all learnt. We had a tour around the Surf Club, jumped in an IRB and learnt about the lifeguard emergency kits. We built sandcastles, played octopus and did water safety games in the water. We had lots of fun learning about being safe around our beaches together.

Year 4-6 Athletics Day Success
On Wednesday 19th March our Year 4-6 students had an action-packed Athletics Day, showcasing their skills, determination, and team spirit. Throughout the day, students competed in a range of events, from sprints and relays, to high jump, long jump, and throwing events.
It was fantastic to see everyone giving their best effort, pushing themselves to improve their technique, and demonstrating perseverance in every challenge. Whether racing to the finish line or perfecting their jumps and throws, our students showed dedication and enthusiasm.
A huge congratulations to all participants for their hard work and sportsmanship. Thank you to our teachers, whānau, and supporters for making the day such a great success!
Our Year 4 & 5 tamariki have enjoyed our new Integrated English approach that the teachers have received 3 days of PD on this term. This has provided opportunities for all children to engage in exciting, rich texts in a whole class setting. Highlights have been learning new vocabulary such as entomologist and species, increasing our morphology knowledge by learning new prefixes and suffixes, and focusing on syntax by learning correct sentence structures. Here are our kids engaging in paired reading and a syntax lesson.

Year 6
Recently we walked down to Orewa Beach to enjoy a day learning how to surf along with participating in some team and individual beach games. The weather held out long enough that all of the students had a really fun day while enjoying success in the water. It was great to see children who had never surfed before be able to catch their first wave. Not only did they learn the ins and outs of surfing but they learned the benefits of taking a risk and persistence as well. Thanks to all the parents who helped allow the children to benefit from this day at the beach.
