From the Principal
As we reach the final newsletter of the year, it’s a time to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished together and to look ahead to the exciting things to come.
The end of the school year is always a busy time, and this year is no exception. We are finalizing our plans for the 2025 school year and completing our 2024 assessments. There is so much happening, and I am incredibly proud of how our students have continued to thrive.
From the fantastic Year 5/6 camp to the unforgettable Kapa Haka and Glee celebrations, we have so much to celebrate. These events showcase the incredible talent, enthusiasm, and spirit of our students, and they truly have much to be proud of.
I would also like to remind you to watch out for information about our Whānau Connect, on 5th February which will be sent out in the last week of term.
None of these successes would be possible without the ongoing support of our parents and caregivers. Your involvement, encouragement, and dedication to our school make everything we do possible. We are incredibly grateful for all that you do to support your children’s learning and to help make our school a vibrant, thriving community.
Sadly we will be saying some goodbyes at the end of the term - a heartfelt haere rā to Leisha Barnes, who will be moving to the Shore. Leisha has been an incredible teacher here at Red Beach School, and her dedication to our students has been truly appreciated. We will miss her warmth, her passion for teaching, and the positive impact she has had on so many learners. We wish her all the best in her new adventure and know she will continue to inspire and make a difference wherever she goes.
We also bid farewell to Steve McNeil, who is retiring from his role with the RTLB service. Steve’s contribution to the education sector has been nothing short of outstanding, and his work has touched the lives of many students, teachers, and families. We thank Steve for his years of service, his commitment to supporting students, and the immense difference he has made. We wish him a well-deserved retirement filled with happiness and relaxation.
Thank you to both Leisha and Steve for all you’ve done. You will always be part of the Red Beach School whānau.
Thank you too, to Liz McLellan who took up a fixed term post alongside Rochelle Cook in Room 3 - Liz and Richard's baby boy is due in February.
Thank you to Aimee Quinlan who joined Tracy Inwood in Motuora this term, while Liz Taute was on Sabbatical.
Best wishes to Andrea Smee and her husband Chris who are embarking on a year of travel abroad - we look forward to welcoming her back in 2026.
On behalf of all the staff and students, thank you for your continued partnership. I wish you all a joyful and restful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.
